TECH. TOOLS USED IN CLASS:
These are all FREE tools used in this class (I am not sure if we will be able to do them ALL, but I would like to!). I wanted to give them to you in case you are interested in creating your own accounts at these sites to use them in your other classes and/or in your personal life.
cacoo - This concept map making site allows multiple users to all edit the same document in real time.
delicious - social bookmarking, save bookmarks through your online account at this site so you can access them from any computer. You can also view and search others' bookmarks.
drop.io - Make a podcast using your phone! All you do is call a phone number that you are given, and your podcast will automatically upload to a website.
flickr - On this photo sharing site, you can do an advanced search to find create-commons licensed materials. You can also copy the html code to embed photos to your website.
fotobabble - Create a talking photo that can easily be accessed by a link or embedded onto a webpage.
glogster - Create a digital poster board that may contain text, images, audio, video, and links!
google docs - Collaborate with others to work on a presentation from separate computers at the same time, with each users' changes made and visible in real time. A nice way to create share other documents as well, including text documents, spreadsheets, and surveys (called "forms" on google).
ipadio - I'm not too familar with this one, but you can create a pocast using your phone and attach it to an image. From what I know of it, it seems kind of like fotobabble, except you record audio using your cell phone rather than a microphone.
jing - Create a screencast up to 5 min in length. You are given the option to embed.
jumbli - Interact with a screen that is shown on a billboard live at Times Square in NYC in which you use your cell phone to spell a word using the letters provided, which change every few minutes!
polleverywhere - Conduct a survey that respondents can text their answers to. Results are graphed in real time.
txtblaster - Easily send out text messages to a group of people while keeping your own phone number private. Users subscribe on their own by texting the group's keyword to BLAST (25278), so the group administrator doesn't have to collect phone numbers or add each group member one by one.
weebly - Make your own webpage! Features an easy-to-use "drag and drop" menu.
wiffiti - Engage a group and encourage participation/discussion by allowing people to send text messages to a "screen". These screens are also embeddable if you wish to put them on your website.
wikispaces- Set up your own "wiki" website. You can allow anyone editing rights, or limit access to certain users.
wordle - Put a bunch of words together around a common theme in a cool-looking display.
xtranormal - Make your own animated movies!
zoomerang - Create online surveys. With a basic free account, results cannot be exported, but can just be viewed by the creator of the survey.
